Chinese crypto derivatives exchange Bitget plans to double its staff over the next six months despite the unfavorable market situation.

According to the exchange managing director Gracie Chen:

“As we continue to navigate the crypto winter, this will be a great opportunity for us to attract talent and strengthen our foundation, prioritize growth and be ready to welcome the next round of cryptocurrency adoption when the market recovers.”

At the beginning of 2021, Bitget had 150 employees. By mid-2022, the team has tripled, and the company plans to hire about 500 employees by the end of the year. The focus will be on product development and customer service professionals.

Bitfinex and Tether have previously said they plan to continue hiring new employees despite the market situation.

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has called the crypto winter the right time to expand the staff and further develop the business through various acquisitions.
