The community behind the Helium project, which develops a decentralized wireless network, has just approved a proposal to migrate it to the Solana blockchain.
The developers submitted the corresponding proposal in August. The procedure ended on September 21 and was supported by 6,177 community members who blocked more than 12 million HNT tokens in its favor. Only 1,270 voters opposed the proposal.
According to the developers of the project, moving to Solana from the current native blockchain will allow the protocol to scale through more efficient transactions and interoperability.
The initiative assumes that HNT, MOBILE and IOT tokens will remain in the Helium ecosystem, but they will be transferred to a new blockchain.
