Alexander Heptner, who has resigned as head of crypto exchange BitMEX, has filed a lawsuit against the operator of the crypto derivatives exchange for $3.4 million (this amount does not include non-pecuniary damage).
He has accused the company of unlawful termination and violation of the terms of an employment contract.
The defendant in the lawsuit, whose hearing has been scheduled for January 25, is Three Fins Pte Ltd, the Singapore subsidiary of Seychelles-registered HDR Global Ltd, the company behind BitMEX.
According to the lawsuit, the company reportedly withheld salary and bonuses after he left, alleging that Heptner used his position to misappropriate $230,000 to finance relocations to Singapore and Germany. Thus, the exchange operator “unreasonably” deprived the ex-CEO of a multi-million dollar reward.
