The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Seoul has said that the South Korean authorities have recently included in its sanctions list a number of North Korean hacker groups and individuals associated with cyber attacks and theft of cryptocurrencies.

In particular, hackers Park Jin Hyuk, Cho Myung Rae, Song Rim, and Oh Jung Son have been blacklisted.

The most famous of them, Park, works in the information technology industry at North Korea’s Chosun Expo Joint Venture. This is a shell company associated with the Lazarus Group.

Park is known for being involved in the 2017 WannaCry ransomware attack and the November 2014 cyber attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment. The OFAC also imposed sanctions against him in 2018.
