Verichains has recently identified a new vulnerability in wallets using the MPC protocol, as outlined in their report.
According to experts, a critical bug in the Threshold Signing Scheme (TSS) potentially allows hackers to gain access to the private key.
The study, which was conducted since October 2022, found that almost all multi-signature wallets were susceptible to this vulnerability, amounting to approximately $8 billion in funds.
Verichains has noted that this method of attack leaves no trace, making it difficult to determine the identity of the hacker.
Wallets using the ECDSA algorithm are also at risk. Although the company did not specify which services may be targeted, they warned “a number of affiliated suppliers” of the danger.
