The hacker responsible for the attack on Euler Finance’s DeFi protocol yesterday returned 23,214 ETH and $10.7 million in DAI stablecoins, worth a total of around $39.8 million.
Identified as “Jacob,” the hacker left several on-chain messages apologizing for the hack, and promised to return the rest of the stolen funds soon.
He has written:
“I don’t think this will help me, but I still want to say that I screwed up. I didn’t want it, but I stole money, ruined other people’s lives. […] Forgive me.”
Euler Finance has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident, which occurred on March 13 and saw over 85,800 ETH stolen, amounting to a total of $196 million.
