Report: No More Than 1% of ETH in Staking Will Be Affected After Shapella’s Upgrade

Reading time: < 1 minute

After the Shapella hard fork was implemented, there is a potential for users to withdraw funds from staking.

Shapella (Shanghai-Capella) includes the implementation of EIP-4895 – opening the possibility for users to withdraw funds from staking.

Although Glassnode estimates that 170,000 ETH ($323 million) could be affected by potential sales, this is still only 1% of the 18 million ETH locked in staking ($33.92 billion, 15% of the supply in circulation).

Despite the potential for a mass withdrawal of Ethereum, the analysts at Glassnode are confident that the update will lead to a strengthening of the staking industry, and any impact on the price of Ethereum will be within acceptable limits.
