MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor has reacted to comments by US Senator Elizabeth Warren on an article in The New York Times (NYT) dedicated to mining BTC.
Warren had stated that bitcoin miners are “increasing electricity bills” for millions of American households and generating air pollution equivalent to 3.5 million ICE cars.
In response, Saylor has argued that the activities of cryptocurrency miners do not lead to higher tariffs or environmental pollution, and that these data centers run on surplus energy that would otherwise be wasted.
The article had previously been criticized in the community, with Riot Platforms, which appeared in the article, calling it a “full of distortions and outright lies” politically motivated attack on the industry.
