According to Privacy Affairs’ April 24 research paper, “The Dark Web Price Index,” cybercriminals have been offering illegally obtained financial account information on the dark web, including verified cryptocurrency accounts.
Prices for these accounts have risen significantly since 2022; for example, a Kraken verified account now costs $1,170, while a U.S.-verified Bittrex account costs $30.
Additionally, credit card accounts with balances of up to $5,000 are being sold for $110 and login credentials for online bank accounts with balances of up to $2,000 are being sold for $60.
These accounts can be used to evade Know Your Customer (KYC) measures on cryptocurrency exchanges.
