Onfocoin co-founder John Forsyth was found dead with a gunshot wound a week after he went missing, Associated Press reports.
On May 21, relatives contacted the Missouri State Police in connection with the disappearance of Forsyth, who worked as an emergency room doctor.
A week later, law enforcement officers found the missing car, parked a few kilometers from the hospital. His wallet, passport, laptop and work briefcase were inside the unlocked car.
The victim’s younger brother, Richard Forsyth, noted that John always takes his phone with him and never missed work without a reason.
The doctor’s body was found on May 30, about an hour from where he was last seen. Police said the motive for the crime was likely unrelated to his cryptocurrency activities.
