Bitdeer, a Singapore-based mining service provider, mined on May 31 283 BTC at 18 EH/s, as stated in a press release.
The company currently has ~191,000 ASIC miners in operation, out of which ~62,000 are owned by Bitdeer and the rest belong to hosting clients.
As compared to the previous month, the company witnessed a decline in hash rate from 5.7 EH/s to 5.4 EH/s due to the unprofitability of ~5000 Antminer 17 models used for both self-mining and its Cloud Hash Rate services.
In addition, Bitdeer is planning to invest $500 million in a cryptocurrency mining operation in Bhutan’s Gedu data center.
This facility will feature 30,000 miners and bring in an extra 100 MW of installed capacity with an increase of its own hash rate by approximately 3.3 EH/s.
Furthermore, the surplus of hydroelectric power in Bhutan puts the center in the position to become Asia’s first zero-carbon mining operation. The construction is set to end in July 2023.
