At the Australian Blockchain Week conference, Hester Peirce, Commissioner of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and known as “Crypto Mom” to the blockchain community, called for sensible regulation of the industry.
She has been defending the interests of the industry over recent years and has urged American leadership to legalize the digital asset market.
Peirce, noted for her positive stance towards cryptocurrency, emphasized the need for a sound regulatory framework to protect investors’ rights and ensure they can make their own decisions to purchase Bitcoin and other virtual currencies without restrictions being imposed on them by the state.
She has continued to criticize the current SEC policy, and has called for US authorities to review their methods of assessing the conditions of the cryptosphere and take a softer approach.
