CoinsPaid, a payment service, suffered on July 22 a $37 million hacker attack, with developers suspecting involvement from the North Korean Lazarus Group.
Representatives of the firm declared that customer funds were unaffected, but the breach had an impact on the availability and revenues of the platform.
An emergency team of experts was activated for tightening security measures and procedures that ultimately prevented a larger loss. In addition, human and technical resources were strongly involved in a search and analysis of stolen funds.
CoinsPaid has since filed a complaint with law enforcement, and more time is needed to bring the systems back to their full functionality.
The Lazarus Group is also thought to be responsible for attacks targeting the Ronin sidechain, Atomic Wallet wallet, Alphapo platform, and Horizon Cross-chain Bridge.
To ensure the prevention of similar attacks in the future, CoinsPaid is considering hosting a “round table” with all other organizations and individuals affected by North Korean hackers.
