Spain Gives Support to EU Plan to Create Digital Euro

Margarita Delgado, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Spain, has expressed her full support of the ECB’s project to issue a digital currency (CBDC) in 2026 at an event for students in Pamplona on Friday.

She believes that the digital euro token will be able to provide a solution to many of the current challenges faced by the European financial system.

By having the euro-backed token, businesses and individuals will have more options for sending funds to any part of the EU or elsewhere around the world.

While the ECB is preparing to release its own digital currency, it is simultaneously constructing an infrastructure that will make it possible for different types of digital currencies to coexist and be used for business purposes.
