Google will allow advertisers as of September 15 to promote certain blockchain gaming applications that use non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as in-game items, so long as these products are not related to gambling.
However, advertising for NFT games that involve betting on/for real rewards, cryptocurrency, or other prizes will remain prohibited.
Moreover, the promotion of online gambling or gambling-style games that utilize NFTs will also not be permitted.
Google has made it clear that its policy around such advertising will be enforced worldwide in accordance with local laws.
Accounts found to be in violation of the policy will be blocked within seven days of being issued a warning.
Interestingly, this measure to promote NFT gaming follows a more inclusive move, made back in July, to permit hosting of these types of games within the Android application store.
