Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has labelled Bitcoin as “the most important” cryptocurrency, and confirmed the exchange’s intention to incorporate the micropayment network Lightning Network (LN).

Armstrong has said that it will take “some time” before the integration of the L2 network is complete, and asked users to remain patient.

This comment came after The Block CEO Jack Dorsey enquired why Armstrong has been downplaying Bitcoin and the Lightning Network.

In response, Armstrong has stated that they are assessing the best way to implement LN, and stressed that he is in favour of payments being made in Bitcoin.

Looking into Bitcoin statistics, the capacity of the micropayment network has grown over the last year, however, swerved downward in mid-summer and is currently at 4,745 BTC.
