A committee in Kenya’s parliament has called for regulators to prohibit Worldcoin from operating in the country after conducting an investigation.
The government initially restricted the startup’s activities to evaluate potential risks to public safety, which allowed for the investigation to begin.
Recently, on August 5, documentation and equipment related to Worldcoin were confiscated by a team of police officers.
The materials were then transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further analysis.
The report states that the project has continued to collect personal data from Kenyans despite being ordered to stop.
The committee members have recommended that authorities shut down the startup’s online platforms and launch a criminal investigation against the company.
