On December 19, during a session of the UK House of Commons, Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt responded to a question posed by Member of Parliament Lisa Cameron about the access of licensed crypto firms to banking in the country.
Hunt stated that Economic Secretary Bim Afolami, who joined the UK government in November, would be happy to meet with the Crypto and Digital Assets All-Party Parliamentary Group to discuss related issues.
Hunt also recognized the UK as a global hub for cryptocurrencies and emphasized the need for responsible regulation, which was being addressed through the introduction of regulations for stablecoins and crypto services.
Afolami has previously met with representatives from Coinbase to discuss the country’s regulatory environment for digital assets.
