Applicants seeking approval for a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) are under a tight deadline to finalize their filings, as set by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The SEC has mandated a deadline for spot Bitcoin ETF applicants to submit final S-1 amendments by December 29, as reported by Reuters, citing public memos and individuals familiar with the discussions.

A meeting on December 21 involved SEC officials and representatives from at least seven firms aspiring to launch spot Bitcoin ETFs in early 2024.

Attendees included representatives from BlackRock, Grayscale Investments, ARK Invest, and 21 Shares.

The meetings also included participants from potential listing exchanges such as Nasdaq and the Chicago Board Options Exchange, alongside legal professionals and issuers.
