Bitcoin Mining Difficulty Hits a New Record High

Following a recalculation, the difficulty of mining the leading cryptocurrency increased by 1.6%, reaching a new high of 73.2 T.

The average hashrate during this period was 524.18 EH/s and the block interval stayed below 10 minutes.

According to Glassnode, the 7-day moving average for January 5 reached 537 EH/s and is currently at 545 EH/s.

The Hashrate Index shows a hash price of $84.6 per PH. It should be noted that in the past year, Bitcoin miners have seen a 400% increase in income from transaction fees. On average, miners are earning over $2 million per day.

In December, infrastructure mining company Akron Energy secured $110 million in funding to expand its data center capacity, specifically for mining the first cryptocurrency.
