On January 26, an unknown person gained unauthorized access to the X-account belonging to Staci Warden, CEO of the Algorand Foundation.
However, unlike typical attacks that involve spreading fraudulent links, the hacker in this case chose to criticize the blockchain instead.
The attacker’s message urged people to sell ALGO and invest in ETH instead. As of now, the account has not yet been recovered by the rightful owner.
In addition to deriding the Algorand community as “extremely poor,” the attacker shifted focus towards Justin Sun, the head of Tron. Using Worden’s name, the hacker recounted a supposed exchange between Sun and Worden, where the former allegedly offered to purchase the Algorand blockchain.
The exchange continued with Sun promising to elevate the protocol through the launch of stablecoins TUSD and VRUSD, in exchange for full control of the network and the ability to mint any tokens.
