Ethereum Devs Activate Dencun Hard Fork

The latest Ethereum development, the Dencun (Deneb-Cancun) update, was successfully implemented on the Holesky testnet by the team.

Lead developer Terence Cao shared that the upgrade went smoothly and the first blocks were already in place. Next, the team plans to set a date for the hard fork to be implemented on the mainnet, the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.

The update, which includes EIP-4844 and a Proto-Danksharding option, aims to scale the network and reduce fees for L2 solutions using Rollups technology by approximately 10 times.

An earlier deployment on the Goerli testnet caused a network fork, but was quickly resolved by the developers in four hours.

The update’s deployment to Sepolia also went as expected. Cao apologized for the uneventful update at the time.
