Bitfarms, a Canadian Bitcoin mining company, exercised an option on March 11 to purchase 51,908 ASIC miners from Bitmain, which will bring its total hash rate to 21 exahashes per second (EH/s).
This purchase includes 28,000 Bitmain T21 miners and 19,280 Bitmain T21 hydro miners for $14 per terrahash (TH), as well as 3,888 Bitmain S21 miners and 740 Bitmain S21 hydro miners for $17.50/TH.
Each Bitmain T21 ASIC miner currently retails for $3,000 and has a hash rate of 190 TH/s. Bitfarms’ president and CEO, Geoff Morphy, stated that the company secured these miners before expected price increases and that they are scheduled to be delivered this year.
The purchase was made in the midst of Bitfarms’ $375 million equity offering program, which they plan to use for capital expenditures and general corporate purposes.
