In an effort to expand its presence in the cryptocurrency space, T-Mobile’s parent company Deutsche Telekom has announced plans to engage in Bitcoin mining.
This will build upon their existing involvement with Bitcoin, as they have been operating a Bitcoin node since 2023 and are currently running nodes for the Bitcoin Lightning Network.
During the BTC Prague conference, Dirk Röder, head of Web3 infrastructure and solutions at Deutsche Telekom, shared that they will also be delving into “digital monetary photosynthesis” in the near future.
This move aligns with the company’s active participation in the Web3 field, as they have been operating as a validator for Polygon since June 2023.
