Wallets connected to the CoinStats hacker have sent approximately $1 million in Ether to Tornado Cash, a cryptocurrency mixing protocol.
CertiK, a blockchain security firm, reported that two wallets linked to the June CoinStats hack have transferred a total of 311 ETH (valued at $959,000) to the privacy-focused mixer.
These mixers combine multiple funds, making it difficult to trace transactions, and are commonly used by cybercriminals to conceal their illegal activities.
On June 22, CoinStats halted user activity after 1,590 wallets were affected by a security breach. The company assured users that the attack had been contained, and advised those impacted to transfer their funds using their private keys.
The exact date of the attack remains unknown, as CoinStats only revealed that it discovered the exploit “recently.”
