According to data from Arkham Intelligence, on August 14 at 15:38:31 UTC, the United States government transferred approximately 10,000 Bitcoin to a wallet with an address ending in the letters “noe.”
The transferred funds were seized during the Silk Road raid and are currently worth $593.91 million.
This is one of several high-profile transfers of the US government’s Bitcoin holdings, with the previous transfer of 29,800 BTC, valued at almost $2 billion, occurring on July 29, 2024 to an undisclosed address.
At the time of this writing, the US government holds around 203,000 BTC, worth approximately $12 billion.
This makes the US government the largest geopolitical holder of Bitcoin, a fact highlighted by 2024 Presidential candidate Donald Trump.
