The French gambling regulator has launched a probe into Polymarket, a cryptocurrency-based betting site that witnessed a trader place $30 million across four accounts in favor of Donald Trump winning the election.
The Autorité Nationale des Jeux is investigating the site to determine if it is in compliance with national gambling laws.
A spokesperson for the agency confirmed they are examining the site and considering a ban for French users, according to reports from Bloomberg and The Big Whale, a crypto news site.
The ANJ’s interest in Polymarket has intensified after it was revealed that a French trader made huge profits of about $48 million on their wagers for Trump’s win.
