The Russian government has approved a list of regions and territories where mining will be prohibited starting from January 1, 2025 and lasting until March 15, 2031.
The ban includes participation in mining pools in Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Chechnya, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
In some areas of the Irkutsk Region, Buryatia, and the Zabaikalsky region, mining will be temporarily banned during periods of peak energy consumption – from January 1 to March 15 in 2025 and from November 15 to March 15 in subsequent years.
According to government officials, the list of regions and territories may be subject to change based on decisions made by the government commission on the development of the electric power industry.
