The Malaysian government is currently considering a cryptocurrency policy, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has recently discussed this with leaders in Abu Dhabi and the founder of Binance, Changpeng Zhao, according to the New Straits Times.

During a briefing with local media after his three-day visit to Abu Dhabi, Prime Minister Ibrahim stated:

“We discussed topics such as digital transformation, data centers, and artificial intelligence.”

He also mentioned that several months ago, he proposed for Malaysian agencies, including security, treasury, and Bank Negara, to explore the potential of cryptocurrencies to prevent being left behind in this rapidly growing industry.

He emphasized the importance of regulating cryptocurrencies to safeguard the interests of the people as well as prevent any potential issues.

The Prime Minister also highlighted that countries in South Asia can learn from the success of the United Arab Emirates and Binance to create appropriate policies for the crypto industry.
