Pakistan Considers New Council to Adopt Crypto

The Finance Ministry of Pakistan is considering setting up a “National Crypto Council” to investigate the potential legalization of cryptocurrencies in the country, as reported by the local outlet Dawn.

This shift in stance occurred after Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb held discussions on digital assets with a foreign delegation, including advisers to former US President Donald Trump.

The proposed crypto council is expected to comprise key government officials, regulatory bodies, and industry experts. Its role will be to guide policy formulation, tackle regulatory hurdles, and ensure that Pakistan’s crypto ecosystem develops in a secure and sustainable way.

Although over 20 million Pakistanis are involved in cryptocurrency, they encounter difficulties like high transaction fees.
