The head of the Central Bank of Indonesia has this week announced that the authorities plans to create a national digital currency (CBDC).
As a result, Indonesia has just joined the list of countries that as part of the digitalization of the payment infrastructure, want to introduce a token tied to the national currency.
The head of the central bank of the country said on Monday that the digital rupee will become the equivalent of fiat money and can be used to pay for goods and services.
In addition, Indonesia wants to launch a token that will be compatible with CBDCs issued by other states.
