Tim Draper, a well-known investor and billionaire, has alerted people about the increasing use of artificial intelligence by cryptocurrency scammers to imitate his voice.
Draper stated:
“It seems like the AI is becoming smarter and people are using my voice to trick you into sending them digital currency. I want to clarify that I never ask my followers for money. If someone reaches out to you claiming to be me, please know that it is not me. They are stealing from you.”
Deepfakes, which are created using artificial intelligence technology, have become a significant concern. In recent times, there have been many discussions about the dangers of fake identities, not only in the cryptocurrency and AI industries but also in other areas.
In the beginning of October, famous actor Tom Hanks shared a screenshot of a deepfake video advertising dental services using his name.
Hanks made it clear that he had no involvement in it and advised people to be careful.
Shortly after Hanks, American TV journalist Gayle King also shared a similar experience. She revealed that scammers had used a deepfake video of her radio show to promote their product.
