Barry Silbert, founder and CEO of Digital Currency Group (DCG), along with Mark Murphy, DCG’s president, have submitted their resignations from the board of directors at Grayscale Investments.

The resignations are set to become effective on January 1, 2024, according to a filing made by Grayscale Bitcoin Trust with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Currently under SEC review for conversion into a spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund, Grayscale is under the umbrella of DCG.

Silbert, the outgoing chairman of Grayscale’s board, will be succeeded by Mark Shifke, DCG’s Chief Financial Officer, aged 64. New additions to Grayscale’s board include Matt Kummell, 47, Senior Vice President of Operations at DCG, and Edward McGee, 40, Chief Financial Officer of Grayscale.

The board now consists of Shifke, Kummell, McGee, and Michael Sonnenshein, the CEO of Grayscale, with the filing not specifying the reasons for these changes.
