The official Legal Daily’s website published an article advocating for stricter measures against bribery involving cryptocurrency and other forms of electronic payment.

This was based on discussions by legal scholars at the China Integrity and Legal Research Association meeting, where tackling new types of corruption was a top priority.

In the article, Associate Professor Zhao Xuejun from Hebei University Law School pointed out that virtual currency and electronic gift cards have become a new means for bribery – as they can be carried abroad and redeemed without detection.

He also mentioned the CCP’s unprecedented efforts to combat corruption.

Professor Mo Hongxian from Wuhan University Law School specifically mentioned Bitcoin and its anonymity and difficult traceability, which makes it convenient for illegal activities.
