Former US President Donald Trump stated last week that he would terminate the implementation of a digital currency, known as CBDC, if he were to be elected into office again.
On Monday, Trump reconfirmed his stance by declaring that he would not allow a digital dollar to be adopted in the country.
During a campaign speech in New Hampshire, Trump expressed his support for Vivek Ramaswamy, who has also opposed the idea of a CBDC. Ramaswamy previously withdrew from the presidential campaign after a disappointing rally in Iowa.
Trump emphasized the potential threat a digital currency would pose to American freedom, claiming that it would give the government too much control over people’s money.
He warned that the government could easily take people’s money without their knowledge if a CBDC were to be adopted.
