According to a report by Immunefi, the crypto industry experienced a loss of approximately $67 million in February due to 12 different incidents of hacker attacks and fraud. This was a significant decrease from January’s damage of around $126.8 million.
The majority of the losses in February were a result of two major hacks – PlayDapp ($32.35 million) and FixedFloat ($26.1 million).
Cryptocurrency casino Duelbits also suffered a loss of $4.6 million due to a compromise of its private key. All of the attacks during the month were targeted at DeFi platforms, while centralized platforms did not report any significant incidents. This trend was also observed in January.
Among the different networks, Ethereum was the most targeted, with 10 of the incidents in the report being associated with it. One incident each was reported on the Bitcoin and BNB Chain blockchains.
One notable incident involved a repeated attack on PlayDapp, where the hacker was able to issue an additional 1.59 billion PLA tokens worth $253.9 million at the time.
