The situation surrounding Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs, continues to develop, with a court in Montenegro once again overturning a lower court’s decision to extradite him to the United States.
On March 5, the Appellate Court of Montenegro announced that it had annulled the High Court of Podgorica’s approval of Kwon’s extradition to the US, stating that the previous decision was based on significant violations of local criminal procedure laws.
The panel of the Appellate Court cited a lack of clear and valid reasons for the extradition request and effectively challenged the decision made by the High Court in Podgorica on February 20.
This latest ruling is just one event in the lengthy extradition process that began when Kwon was arrested in Montenegro in March 2023.
Both the US and South Korea have requested Kwon’s extradition, prompting intense debates over whether the Terraform Labs co-founder should be returned to his home country or not.
