Kanav Kariya, the former head of cryptocurrencies at Chicago-based trading firm Jump Trading, has officially left the company after working his way up from an intern at the young age of 25.

This news comes after a recent report by Fortune stating that the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission is investigating Jump Trading’s involvement in the cryptocurrency market.

In a post on X Monday, Kariya announced his departure, saying that it is bittersweet but he is also excited about what lies ahead.

He was appointed as the president of Jump Trading’s cryptocurrency division in 2021, but the company faced setbacks soon after.

Their investment in the Wormhole cryptocurrency bridge was hacked in early 2022, resulting in a loss of over $300 million.
