The US Securities and Exchange Commission has given the green light for the listing and trading of options for BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF).

This decision, posted on Friday, comes after several other spot BTC ETFs were approved by the SEC earlier this year, including ones from BlackRock’s competitors Grayscale and Fidelity.

Nasdaq ISE, LLC will be facilitating the listing and trading of these options. This development has been welcomed by ETF Store President Nate Geraci, who noted that it took over 8 months for options trading to be approved after the launch of spot bitcoin ETFs.

Despite the delay, Geraci believes it is better late than never. The SEC also invites interested parties to comment on the amendment proposals from BlackRock, as well as approving the proposed rule change on an accelerated basis.
