Ukraine is on the verge of legalizing it as a form of currency. The final draft of a new bill is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2025, according to Danylo Hetmantsev, head of the Ukrainian Parliament’s Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy.
The bill is being developed in collaboration with the National Bank of Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund.
It will regulate crypto transactions and introduce a taxation model similar to that of securities, with profits being taxed when converted into traditional currency.
However, Hetmantsev stressed that careful consideration is being taken to prevent potential tax evasion in the traditional market. This marks a shift from Ukraine’s previous reluctance to adopt cryptocurrency.
