A New York state senator has put forward legislation to create a task force focused on crypto and blockchain research.
Introduced by Senator James Sanders Jr. on Wednesday, the bill aims to provide detailed insights to the governor and legislative bodies regarding “the effects of the widespread use of cryptocurrencies.”
The proposal also highlights the importance of New York State considering the adoption of blockchain technology. According to the bill, the crypto task force would consist of 17 members tasked with examining various use cases of cryptocurrency and their associated systems.
“Members appointed to the task force should possess relevant expertise and knowledge of the digital currency, cryptocurrency, and blockchain sectors,” the proposal states.
Should the bill pass, members of the task force are to be appointed within 90 days. They are expected to present their research findings in a report to the state governor and legislature by December 15, 2027.
